He has also worked as an editor
and researcher on other contemporary music publications. His Rolling Stones database provides a sessionography and
history of over 2,000 recordings from the famous chart-toppers to the infamous rarities.
The Rolling Stones Complete Recording Sessions, written and researched by Martin Elliott,
is the definitive guide to the Rolling Stones’ recorded works. It provides significant live tour and concert details
and sets over fifty years of events in a historical and cultural context. His first book was published in 1990 and
subsequently updated in 2002 and 2012. The last two books were published by Cherry Red.
Chris Kimsey, the renowned studio
engineer and commercially the Rolling Stones most successful producer contributed fully and wrote the foreword for
the 2012 book. "You have to get to the source to put the story straight and Martin has done this better than anyone.
His facts are highly accurate, I even find myself reading the book to remind me of dates and events!"
Chris's involvement with the Rolling Stones was over a 25 year period and for twelve albums.
His role ranged from tape operator, recording engineer, mastering engineer, mixer, associate producer and co-producer.
Martin Elliott maintains a database of recordings of the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world at
the commencement of their sixth decade at the forefront of contemporary music. His catalogue lists every session and
recording (studio and significant live) - both the official releases and the infamous bootlegs.
